Even Professor Sprout from Harry Potter couldn’t do a better job introducing your children to botany! The signposted trail at Château Vilatte guides you through the vineyards to discover the vegetation of the Puy-Normandy countryside, northeast of Libourne.
Within this estate, which practices sustainable viticulture, take this signposted path to discover some thirty listed plant species. During this 5-kilometer walk, wander through vineyards and forests in complete privacy…
3 good reasons to explore the botanical trail at Château Vilatte:
💚 Raise children’s awareness about the environment
🍇 Meet committed winemakers
🎲 Enjoy a fun and educational walk in the heart of unspoiled nature
Between protected oak trees and a small orchard, let yourself be guided through the vines.
It’s no coincidence that Château Vilatte’s motto is: “For pleasure, by nature.” Meet Stefaan Massart, this passionate winemaker who, since purchasing the château in the 1970s, has worked hard to promote the rural heritage of his small family estate.
At the end of the botanical trail, stop by the château museum. Paintings provide a highly educational illustration of “the wine cycle from earth to glass.” Children will marvel at the old tools, presses, vats, and wine pumps from the past.
