Book your canoe trip

The river according to your desires

Today’s dilemma: the Isle or the Dronne? From the small port of Guîtres, embark on the Isle River for a gliding session amidst unspoiled nature.

Fancy a more challenging canoeing or kayaking outing? Head to the Book Village. Here, there’s no time for reading, as the canoe picnic excursion offers a 5.5-hour adventure along the Dronne!

Still undecided? A few kilometers away, head to the Coutras water sports center for a simple introduction or a trip to the river of your choice.

Canoe, kayak, what’s the difference?

In Libourne, you can go canoeing or kayaking! But… What’s the (real) difference between the two boats?

A quick update:

🚣🏽‍♂️ For the canoe:

  • Position: Sitting on a raised bench, legs bent.
  • The paddle has only one blade; it is called a single paddle.

🚣🏽‍♂️ For kayaking:

  • Position: Sitting at the bottom of the boat, legs extended.
  • The paddle has a blade on each side, making it a double-bladed paddle.

So, what is your favorite practice?

The origins of these unusual boats?

Although there are no real physical differences between the two boats, they have very different geographical origins.

We owe canoeing to the American Indians, while kayaking was invented by the Inuit (you know, the people who live in igloos)!

The latter use sealskin and driftwood to make their kayaks. But don’t worry, the Libourne kayaks are made from transformed materials to be lighter and more colorful!

Water activities are our forte!

Skiing, wakeboarding or paddling on the water: water sports are all the rage in Libourne!
