Les Balades à Roulettes® (Walks on Wheels)

Les Balades à roulettes® (BR®) are short and quiet walks that can be done without difficulty.

The routes have been specially selected to make outdoor walking easier for:

  • people in wheelchairs or with difficulty moving on rough terrain
  • families with strollers or accompanied by children with tricycles, scooters, or small bicycles

The criteria for these walks are as follows:

  • offering a wide path, without significant elevation changes, with a sufficiently smooth surface and
  • no car traffic
  • having parking available
  • offering short circuits between 500m and 4km, structured as loops, out-and-back routes, or “star” routes (i.e., different hikes but with a common starting point)

he BR® trail maps are available as downloadable PDF files (see list at the bottom of the page). Pictograms indicate the accessibility of each route and the amenities available nearby: benches, tables, restrooms, water fountains, etc.

The maps also provide tourist information: presence of a lake or stream, fishing area, children’s playground, interesting flora and fauna, swimming, nearby village, heritage sites, and places to eat (with information on wheelchair accessibility).

Note:

  • The BR designers and FFRandonnée (French Hiking Federation) list the routes. They cannot, under any circumstances, be held responsible for any accidents.
  • The routes are safe, but children remain under the responsibility and supervision of their parents.
  • All the trails have been tested and are wheelchair accessible, but muddy sections after rain or slight inclines (indicated in the description) cannot be ruled out.
  • For the enjoyment of these walks, it is recommended that people with reduced mobility be accompanied.

The Libourne Loop

Discover Libourne in a new way with the Libourne Loop, an accessible and immersive route designed for walking, strolling, or your daily exercise.
Accessible to people with reduced mobility, strollers, and bicycles, this route leads you to the confluence of the Isle and Dordogne rivers and offers diverse landscapes. Along the way, various interpretive panels help you understand and appreciate the city’s cultural, historical, and scenic treasures.
The loop invites you to observe a variety of flora and fauna while passing through iconic sites: the Royal Chapel of Condat, the Roueyre Fountain wash house, the port of Libourne, and the fishing huts on stilts (carrelets), symbols of the Gironde riverbanks.

The route also showcases the exceptional wine-growing heritage near Libourne, boasting a wealth of appellations: Bordeaux, Saint-Émilion, Pomerol, and Lalande-de-Pomerol.
Close to the heart of the action, you’ll follow the Libourne quays, a hub for shows and events, as well as the Lac des Dagueys, a popular venue for sporting and leisure activities such as the nearby Calinésie. Several children’s playgrounds are located along the route.
